Advanced mobility solutions provider Hitachi Astemo has specified the AEC-Q100-compliant adaptive computing technology developed by AMD to support its latest forward-looking vehicle cameras.
Offering enhanced vision capabilities (such as a 120° viewing angle), the stereo-format camera unit will be employed in adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking functions, so as to assure greater road user safety. Working in conjunction with AMD’s Automotive XA Zynq UltraScale+ multi-processor system-on-a-chip (MPSoC) platform means that all the captured image data can be rapidly dealt with. Each MPSoC features processing resources consisting of a 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 plus a dual-core ARM Cortex-R5. Stereo camera image processing algorithms alongside artificial intelligence (AI) workflows mean that object detection/recognition can be applied. Furthermore, these MPSoC's ISO26262 ASIL-C level certification makes certain that high degrees of functional safety are maintained.
